Laguna Lodge

Laguna Lodge is a rain forest ecotourism lodge. A leader among Costa Rica hotels and resorts with an extra touch in style, comfort and personalized service. Laguna Lodge lies along Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean Zone, an exclusive location on a narrow strip of land between the sea on one side and the Tortuguero-Lagoon on the other.

The Tortuguero Region is the most important nesting site in the entire Western half of the Caribbean for the green sea turtle. The season starts around mid July and ends by October. During your stay at Laguna Lodge in this time of the year, a night walk to search for green sea turtles is highly recommended.

Laguna Lodge offers 80 standard rooms with views to the gardens and forest that surrounds the resort. Laguna Lodge rooms offer private bathroom, hot water, ceiling fan, reading lamps, wooden bench outside your room to sit and admire the gardens.

Laguna Lodge is home to an open air restaurant which is located in front of the Tortuguero lagoon, providing beautiful views of the forests nearby. While enjoying a your meals, you will also admire the boats of local people passing by to the local village. Meals are served buffet style with a variety of fresh tropical fruits and vegetables. Coffee, tea, and cookies are available 24 hours a day at the restaurant. The decoration of the Laguna Lodge restaurant and bars include woods that have been collected at our beach area and treated in our workshop.

Laguna Lodge Facilities:

* Open air restaurant.
* 2 bars, one located over the lagoon and another one next to the swimming
pool area. All of them decorated with woods from the beach.
* Swimming pool with hydro-massage waterfall and a small islet.
* Huts with hammocks to take a nap, read a book or simply relax.
* Fifteen acres full of trees and exotic plants.
* Open butterfly garden with local plants that attract local species.
* Private trails ideal for bird watching.
* Access to the beach.
* A Gaudi style building with a small conference room, reception and
souvenir shop.
* Covered boats to transport our guests from the boarding port and open
boats that we use to tour the canals. All boats are equipped with life jackets
and rain ponchos for your safety and comfort.
* Fishing trips with experienced local captains for Tarpon, Snook, Jacko Bell,
Red Snapper, Macko among other species (trips upon request).
* Turtle nesting night walks (from mid July to October approximately).
* Botanical garden.

Laguna Lodge rates

We do our best to stay on top of current rates. This hotel has not yet determined 2010 rates. Please inquire with us if you desire an immediate rate quote.

2009 Rates

Rate range from $177 pp triple occupancy low season to $386 pp single occupancy high season.

Prices per person based on occupancy (single, double, triple)

Children: 1-4 free *
5-11 50% off the rate *
12 + pay as adults
* Sharing room with parents

Laguna Lodge rates include:

* Transfer by air conditioned bus from San Jose to Caño Blanco
* Transfer by boat from Caño Blanco to Laguna Lodge
* Breakfast and lunch en route at Selva Tropical Restaurant
* Meals at the lodge
* Tours as per described
* Taxes

Laguna Lodge rates do not include:

* Alcoholic, non alcoholic beverages.
* Sodas.
* Bottled water
* Entrance fees to the National Park and Turtle Museum

Laguna Lodge optional tours:

* Turtle nesting walk (from July to October) $30 per person
* Fishing of Tarpon, Snook, Fat Snook, Jacko Bell, among others (upon request)

Important notes about Laguna Lodge:

* The maximum weight permitted on small boats is 25 pounds per person
* The cost of the entrance fee to Tortuguero National Park is $7 per person (please pay directly to your guide)
* The cost of the entrance to the Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC) Turtle Museum is $1.00 per person
