Drake Bay Drake Bay

Drake Bay is named after it's discoverer, Sir Francis Drake. Not only does the area have a rich history, but also boasts some of Costa Rica's most stunning, palm studded, white sand beaches. A tourist favorite, many come to Drake Bay not only for the beaches, but also for Corcovado National Park, which is located just south of the village. A writer for National Geographic Magazine actually described this area as being among the world's most biologically intense places. The beaches here vary from perfectly calm bays with excellent snorkeling conditions, such as San Josecito to ancient lava flow field beaches with tidal pools and perfect surfing conditions.

The Location of Drake Bay is on western side of the Osa Peninsula, which in turn is located in the Southwest corner of Costa Rica. There are very few paved roads in this region. Most visitors to this region choose to take a domestic flight or boat ride in from Sierpe rather than driving.

Drake Bay Tours are available for adventurers, nature lovers or those that just want to relax and let the captain do the sailing. One can experience everything from rain forest waterfalls to canopy exploration to Dolphin and Whale watching before watching a magnificent Pacific sunset from one of the many pristine beaches in this beach lovers paradise.
