Description: Liberia is located in the northwest corner of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, convenient to many popular beaches including, Golfo de Papagayo, Playa Hermosa, Playas Coco, Playa Ocotal, Playa Flamingo and Tamarindo. The city is home to one of two of Costa Rica's International Airports. Daniel Oduber International Airport (named after a former Costa Rica president) was opened in 1995. Domestic flights are also available from Liberia Airport to many other popular Costa Rica destinations.

The Location: Liberia is located in the north west corner of Costa Rica in the Province of Guanacaste. This tourist favorite is approximately a 3 1/2 hours drive from San Jose, 4 hours from Manuel Antonio, 2 hours from Monteverde, and 2 1/2 hours from the La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano Region. Please keep in mind that all drive times are approximate, depending on road conditions, as well as Costa Rica driving experience.

The Climate: Located in the north west corner of Costa Rica, Liberia offers a relatively dry climate. From December through April, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low to mid 90's and a low in the 70's with very little rainfall. From May through November, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the upper 80's and a low in the 70's with more prevelent rainfall. The rainfall during this time of the year is generally limited to late afternoons and early evenings (though it can rain at any given time). View Current Conditions
