Playa Nosara

Playa Nosara

Nosara is a small village located on the Nicoya Peninsula. The village is home to a large number ex-pats, many of which own small hotels and restaurants near the beaches. The actual town center of Nosara is located inshore a few kilometers without practical purpose to travelers other than for groceries. There are 3 beaches on the Nosara coastline. Playa Nosara is a black sand beach located to the north, and only accessible by wading through the Nosara River. Playa Pelada, the middle beach, is comprised of beautiful pink color sand and littered with sea shells. This beach is sheltered by a barrier reef and provides ideal swimming and snorkeling conditions. Playa Guiones is the southern most beach and the largest at nearly 6 kilometers. This beach offers surfers consistant and large breaks from both the left and right.

Nosara is a beach town located on the west coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. This tourist favorite is approximately a 1 1/2 hour drive from Liberia, 4 1/2 hours drive from San Jose, 5 hours from Manuel Antonio, 3 hours from Monteverde, and 4 hours from the La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano Region. Please keep in mind that all drive times are approximate, depending on road conditions, as well as Costa Rica driving experience.

Located in the Nicoya Peninsula western Pacific coastal lowlands, Nosara offers a relatively dry climate. From December through April, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low to mid 90's and a low in the 70's with very little rainfall. From May through November, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the upper 80's and a low in the 70's with more prevelent rainfall. The rainfall during this time of the year is generally limited to late afternoons and early evenings (though it can rain at any given time).

Nicoya Tours are available for adventurers, nature lovers or those that just want to relax and let the captain do the sailing. One can experience everything from Rappelling down rain forest waterfalls to canopy exploration to Dolphin and Whale watching before watching a magnificent Pacific sunset from one of the many pristine beaches in this beach lovers paradise.
