Description: Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and National Park are characterized by dry forest. The volcano itself is another of Costa Rica's active volcanoes with abundant hot springs and hot mud pools which contain rejuvenating minerals for your skin. The Rincon de la Vieja area is another mecca for adventure activites including extreme hikes, whitewater tubing, canyoning, ziplining, cattle ranching, and a wide variety of other fun activities. Fun Fact - Rincon de la Vieja translates to "old lady in the corner".

The Location: Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is located in the north west corner of Costa Rica in the Province of Guanacaste. This tourist favorite is approximately a 45 minute drive from Liberia, 4 hours drive from San Jose, 4 hours from Manuel Antonio, 2 1/2 hours from Monteverde, and 2 1/2 hours from the La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano Region. Please keep in mind that all drive times are approximate, depending on road conditions, as well as Costa Rica driving experience.

The Climate: Located in the north west corner of Costa Rica, Rincon de la Vieja offers a relatively dry climate. From December through April, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low to mid 90's and a low in the 70's with very little rainfall. From May through November, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the upper 80's and a low in the 70's with more prevelent rainfall. The rainfall during this time of the year is generally limited to late afternoons and early evenings (though it can rain at any given time).
