Sierpe, Costa Rica

Description: Sierpe is a small, sleepy town located on the end of a peninsula just south of Palmar Sur and Palmar Norte. Though Sierpe has much to offer, most utilize the town as an overnight stop before continuing on to destinations further south on the remote Osa Peninsula, such as Drake Bay and Corcovado National Park. Sierpe is surrounded by the Sierpe Mangrove system, which is the largest mangrove in Costa Rica. Visitors can expect to experience a truly Costa Rican atmosphere during their stay, and the people in this quiet town are warm and welcoming. Located in Southern Costa Rica, Sierpe is fairly remote. Most visitors choose to fly into the Palmar Sur Airport, which services domestic airlines.

Entertainment, though not plentiful in Sierpe is available. The town offers activities including restaurants, bars, internet cafes, and souvenir shops. The following is a small percentage of the local businesses that we recommend:

Activities:

  • Costa Rica Adventures - Mangrove, Cultural, Scuba and Wildlife Tours
  • Birdwatching - (Scarlet Macaws)
  • Ancient Indigenous Stone Spheres
  • Crocodile observation
  • River fishing (Snook & Snapper)

Restaurants:

  • **Los Vagos Restarant - Italian
  • Las Vegas - Typical
  • Oleaje Serena - Typical

Sierpe Restaurant**Los Vagos Restaurant (Not to be confused with the Las Vegas Restaurant, which is also in Sierpe) is a small Italian owned restaurant in Sierpe. This restaurant is hands down, our staff's # 1 recommended eatery in Costa Rica. Do not be confused by the plastic tables and chairs. Emi and David (the owners) of this local favorite are highly trained chefs that chose a simpler way of life. While enjoying your meal, laughter will be plentiful as David entertains, and Emi shares her light hearted humor.
