Escazu

Escazu is located in the Central Valley, spread out over a hillside, overlooking San Jose. It is is a very affluent location in Costa Rica. This is reflected in the high prices and cost of rent in the area. It is also home to many bars and fine restaurants. Driving into Escazu is almost like pulling into a modern city in the United States! You will find things to do here which are not typical of other areas in the country. For example, an 18-hole golf course, incredible shopping malls, movie theaters, and an absolutely beautiful country club. You will also find the only IMAX movie theater here, located near the country’s largest mall, the Avenida Escazu. Escazu is one of the most developed parts in the surrounding metropolitan area. It has many apartment blocks and is known to be a high income location. It is also known as an absolutely beautiful, scenic area.

The GPS coordinates of Escazu are roughly: 9°55'13.58″N, 84°08'31.92″W. The city is just a short drive to Juan Santamaria International Airport.

The rainy season is from May to late November, but cloudiness and rainfall can occur during the dry season, December to April.

The activities in this area vary greatly, just don’t forget, you are in Costa Rica, so pack accordingly. A rain coat, long and short pants, hiking shoes, sneakers Don’t forget your camera, binoculars, and batteries.

There are numerous National Parks in this area, all worth a visit. If you take this opportunity, do yourself a favor, always seek the services of a guide, it is the best way to take advantage of all there is to do and see.
