The following is a small reminder list for documents that you will need for your visit to Costa Rica. We also encourage you to review the following websites for further information and passport and visa requirements:
Embassy of Costa Rica: http://www.costarica-embassy.org
U.S. Department of State:
Passport - Do not leave home without it! Make a copy of your passport and store it in a different place than your passport is stored. Also make a copy of your birth certificate and put that with your copy of your passport. You will need your passport at the airport, at hotel check in, and car rental.
Drivers License - You will need your driver's license to rent a car.
Money - The US dollar is accepted most everywhere in Costa Rica. Take enough for what you think you will spend on small items. Many places accept charge cards that you can use for larger purchases. If you have a Capitol One charge card, (most of the time) you will not get hit with the foreign transaction fees other charge cards charge (Please check first).
Internet Info - Write down in some abbreviated form your internet access info for: your charge cards, bank cards, log-ins, etc. Write this info in a way that you will understand, without writing down account numbers and too much information. This could come in very handy if you need to contact your credit card companies, etc for any reason.
