Introduction; Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica. Similar to most other Spanish speaking countries, Costa Ricans have formed their own dialect of the language which can be categorized under the many versions of Latin American Spanish. Latin American Spanish was derived from the Spanish conquistadors that came in the 1600's. The original Spanish language quickly transformed to Latin American Spanish which is a blend of Spanish and indigenous languages.
