Osa Peninsula
Many describe the Osa Peninsula as the final frontier of this tropical paradise. The Osa Peninsula is a remote area that contains Corcovado National Park. Scienists from all over the world come to study the rich biodiversity of this region. Many simply come to relax in a sea-side hammock in front of a Drake Bay bungalow. The east coast of the Osa Peninsula is home to Puerto Jimenez, which is known as a "wild west" type of area. Playa Carate is located further South and is favored by many celebrities.
The Location of the Osa Peninsula is the Southwest corner of Costa Rica. There are very few paved roads in this region. Most visitors to this region choose to take a domestic flight rather than driving. Flights are available to Palmar Sur, Drake Bay, Carate, and Puerto Jimenez.
The Climate of the Osa Peninsula is a relatively wet climate. During the months of December through April, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low to mid 90's and a low in the 70's with limited rainfall a couple days per week during evening hours. From May through November, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low 90's and a low in the 70's with more prevalent rainfall. The rainfall in the Osa Peninsula and South Pacific region during this time of the year is generally limited to late afternoons and early evenings (though it can rain at any given time). October receives the most rainfall, averaging over an inch per day.
