Many describe the North Guanacaste beaches as The Gold Coast of Costa Rica. One can easily see that this is an appropriate name as you lay back along one of the beautiful beaches and watch a magnificient sunset dip below the horizon. This coastline contains pristine palm studded beaches, numerous all-inclusive resort options, unique boutique hotels, and breathtaking scenery. Peaceful beaches such as Playa Hermosa and Flamingo Beach provide excellent snorkeling, kayaking and other family friendly fun beach activities. Tamarindo, in contrast, is a surfer mecca with a wild nightlife. This area of Costa Rica provides fun for everyone in a variety of tourist friendly beach destinations.

The Location of the Province of Guanacaste is the Northwest corner of Costa Rica. Tamarindo is approximately a 3 1/2 hour drive from San Jose, 3 1/2 hours from Manuel Antonio, 3 hours from Monteverde, 1 hour from Liberia and 4 hours from the La Fortuna Arenal Volcano Region. Please keep in mind that all drive times are approximate and depend on road conditions, as well as Costa Rica driving experience.

The Climate of the Guanacaste Beaches region is a relatively dry climate. During the months of December through April, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low to mid 90's and a low in the 70's with very limited rainfall. From May through November, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low 90's and a low in the 70's with more limited rainfall. The rainfall in the Guanacaste Beaches region during this time of the year is generally limited to late afternoons and early evenings (though it can rain at any given time).
