Tamarindo Information |
Many describe Tamarindo as a family friendly, surfer mecca with an upbeat nightlife and spectacular white sand beaches. Tamarindo Beach is located in a bay which is formed by the Cabo Velas Cape (velas in Spanish means sails or sailfish). The bay is comprised of 3 beaches, with Playa Grande to the North, Playa Tamarindo in the middle and Playa Lagosta to the South. Both Playa Grande and Playa Langosta are Costa Rica National Parks and are proteced nesting areas for the endangered Leatherback Turtle. Playa Grande and Tamarindo are separated by the Tamarindo Estuary, which plays a vital shelter for several species of endangered wildlife.
