"Guy and I arrived home yesterday from Costa Rica, and I wanted to write to thank you for making our trip run so smoothly. I heard references to things running on "Tico time" but all of our transfers and connections reminded me of traveling in Germany, where precision of arrival and departure times is a hallmark. Even though our plane required de-icing in Denver and arrival in San Jose was deplayed for about an hour, our guide and driver, Peter, was there waiting for us. He was quite personable and shared his extensive knowledge of Costa Rica's plants, culture, and economy with us, making the drive to Monte Verde pleasant despite the "massage" from the road...

Indigenous Culture Discovery |
Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to Juan Santamaria
International Airport, you will be greeted by a Pacific Trade Winds S.A.
representative. Private transportation will then be provided to the 4 Star Arenal Springs Resort & Spa or Montana de Fuego Resort & Spa. Both of these popular resorts are located in La Fortuna. This fun little
tourist town is located in the shadow of the imposing Arenal
Volcano.
Breakfast included daily. |
Day 2: You will go on an easy hike through the Rainforest, with a
bilingual naturalist guide who will point out the abundant wildlife, flora & fauna. When you reach the clearing, you will be at the closest observation point to Arenal Volcano. Being the third most active
volcano in the world, Arenal erupts every 5 to 10 minutes. After
approximately 45 minutes of viewing, you will be able to visit the
geothermally heated Baldi Hot Springs where you will be able to relax & bathe as Arenal erupts in the background. |
Day 3: Today you will go on a Guided visit to the Maleku Indigenous Village. During your stay you will be able to
immerse yourself in the colorful culture of these peaceful people.
This tribe has roots to this region dating back thousands of
years. Many of the old traditions are still carried on to this day.
While you are here you will be able to help support the Malekus
by purchasing hand crafted indigenous souvenirs.

Day 4: Transportation will be provided to the Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge.
The grounds and lodge are a replica of a Pre-Columbian Village that was
actually discovered on these grounds. There is also a
museum, archaeological park and botanical gardens on the property. Breakfast included daily.

Day 5: Today you will be able to explore the Pre-Columbian
Archaeological Park, Chester Field's Botanical Gardens and
Museum of Indigenous Culture. There are many fascinating
exhibits and activities to examine of Costa Rica's rich cultural past.

Day 6. You will go on a river boat ride down
the scenic Sarapiqui River. A bilingual naturalist guide will point
out and explain the abundant wildlife, flora and fauna. This is another delicate eco system which contains a wide variety of
endangered species.

Day 7: Private transportation will be provided to
Juan Santamaria International Airport scheduled to
arrive 3 hours prior to your departure.
