I heard references to things running on "Tico time" but all of our transfers and connections reminded me of traveling in Germany, where precision of arrival and departure times is a hallmark. Even though our plane required de-icing in Denver and arrival in San Jose was deplayed for about an hour, our guide and driver, Peter, was there waiting for us. He was quite personable and shared his extensive knowledge of Costa Rica's plants, culture, and economy with us, making the drive to Monte Verde pleasant despite the "massage" from the road...

 Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival to Juan Santamaria
International Airport, you will be greeted by a Pacific Trade Winds S.A.
representative. You will then be brought to the 4 Star Hampton Inn and Suites located in Alajuela. This is a standard room that offers your choice of a one King size bed or two Queen size beds. This room also comes furnished with a small refrigerator for any refreshments and a microwave oven for your convenience. Breakfast included. (4x4 SUV can be substituted for provided transportation. Inquire for details.)

Day 2: You wil arise early for transportation through mountains, cloud forests, and a banana plantation before boarding a riverboat to the island of Jungle Tarpon Lodge. After checking into the Lodge's spacious and comfortable rooms, fishing will fill the afternoon until dinner. After some cocktails and dinner, you will enjoy and evening alligator spotting tour.

Days 3, 4 & 5: Three full days of Offshore fishing along the coastline in search of large Tarpon. On any such day, if weather should prevent comfortable ocean fishing, you will target snook and other or species that inhabit the Rio California and lagoons that occupy the jungle.

 Day 6: Today is a choice to keep going after the 'big catch' or to explore the Tortuguero National Park. The fishing can be either the offshore tarpon or snook on the rio for those who want more. Tortuguero is the home to the Loggerhead, Green, Hawksbill, and Leatherback Sea Turtles. On this day, you may even choose to visit the upriver village Cantina for an experience of jungle culture. |
Day 7: After a morning of fishing in your final attempt at the 'Big One', transportation will be provided back to the 4-star Hampton Inn & Suites, located in Alajuela.This is a standard room that offers your choice of a one King size bed or two Queen size beds. This room also comes furnished with a small refrigerator for any refreshments and a microwave oven for your convenience. Breakfast included.

 Day 8: Today, you will catch the morning flight to Quepos. This is a short, 25-minute flight providing the ultimate canopy experience over Costa Rica's rainforest. Upon arrival in Quepos, transportation will be provided to Byblos Resort & Casino located in Manuel Antonio. During your stay, you will enjoy a
large Deluxe room. Rooms are equipped with 2 double beds, air conditioning, direct phone line, cable TV, safe box, a hair dryer, mini-refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.
This tropical paradise is recognized world wide for its
beautiful beaches and the abundant wildlife of the
jungles that line them.

Days 9 & 10: Two full days of Offshore fishing including 28' Custom Sportfisher with 315 HP inboard Cummins, Tower with full controls, fighting chair, captain, mate, bait, tackle, lunch, beer and soft drinks. You will be fishing for Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Snapper, Roosterfish & Wahoo just to name a few. |
 Day 11: Private transportation will be provided to
Juan Santamaria International Airport scheduled to
arrive 3 hours prior to your departure.
