Liberia is located in the northwest corner of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, convenient to many popular beaches including, Golfo de Papagayo, Playa Hermosa, Playas Coco, Playa Ocotal, Playa Flamingo and Tamarindo. The city is home to one of two of Costa Rica’s International Airports. Daniel Oduber International Airport (named after a former Costa Rica president) was opened in 1995. Domestic flights are also available from Liberia Airport to many other popular Costa Rica destinations.
Located in the north west corner of Costa Rica, Liberia offers a relatively dry climate. From December through April, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the low to mid 90’s and a low in the 70’s with very little rainfall. From May through November, one can expect temperatures to reach a high in the upper 80’s and a low in the 70’s with more prevelent rainfall. The rainfall during this time of the year is generally limited to late afternoons and early evenings (though it can rain at any given time).
Liberia Tours are plentiful and include hikes to Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and National Park, horseback riding, birdwatching, ATV riding, canopy zipline tour, hanging bridges tours, whitewater rafting, canyoneering, and many other options.
Though most choose to stay at the nearby beach areas, there are many options for Liberia hotels.
