When Should I Reserve My Vacation

When Should I Reserve My Vacation?

This is a common question and really depends on your expectations as a traveler. There are literally hundreds of hotels in Costa Rica, but keep in mind this is a second world country. Very few have the right combination of comfort, quality, service, convenience, and overall value. If you are unsure of your expectations you should ask yourself the following questions.

Please keep track by giving a score of 1 – 5 for each question. (See below for charts)
1 = Not important.
2 = You consider these factors, but are willing to sacrifice them.
3 = This factor is taken into consideration when reserving your hotel.
4 = Important factor.
5 = Very important factor.

Comfort: Is comfort a key part of your hotel stay? Is it important to you to have comfortable beds or beds of a certain size?
Score: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Quality: Is the quality of the hotel important to you? Is it important to you to have newer accommodations with modern conveniences such as air conditioning, internet accessibility, newer TV, bathroom shower fixtures of reasonable quality that are not based on electricity (believe it or not, many of the shower fixtures are powered by electricity that runs through the showerhead!)?
Score: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Service: Is it important to you to be treated as a valued guest? Do you expect the hotel staff to clean your room daily, to assist you with luggage, to be available for questions about the area, or generally to be attentive to your needs?
Score: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Convenience: Is it important for your hotel to be conveniently located? Do you wish to stay in the quieter resort areas or in town to be closer to the action? Is it important to you that your hotels are on standard transportation and tour routes or are you willing to pay more for off route transfers and tours? Are you willing to spend extra time to travel to tours?
Score: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Value: Value is determined by the combination of the aforementioned factors. If a hotel has a good mixture of all these attributes, we consider it to be a hotel of high value. If not, the hotel value would naturally be lowered.
